  • Wicking beds, fruit trees, herb beds, pond, insect hotel, fairy garden

When you combine some enthusiastic residents and a forward thinking and progressive council (in particular one Open Space Community Planner), the result can be win for everyone involved.

In this instance the result is ‘The Plant About’. What a joy to see what has emerged from a large single use roundabout.

Led by passionate young gardener and local resident Rebecca and Open Space Community Planner for the City of Charles Sturt Janet Willoughby, the Plant About became a reality from a Discretionary Ward Allowance a few years ago.

Today, local residents tend numerous raised garden beds, two wicking beds, six fruit trees, herb beds and colourful garden beds attracting beneficial insects. In addition there is a pond, insect hotel, a fairy garden the kids will love and Grow Free Cart which sits in the shade of a stunning established Robinia.

This Plant About will bring a smile to all who drive around it.

Activities: Plant About guru Rebecca will be available all weekend to answer questions.

Please note: this garden is not suitable for wheelchairs

$20 for four gardens     $50 for all gardens
