  • Coffee tree among 26 fruit trees

Pioneers of public wicking vegetable beds in the City of Charles Sturt local government area, Steve and Helen have started a community movement that is spreading throughout the state from their very own home.

Be inspired with what these two have created in their front and rear garden over the past 13 years, using totally organic principles and beliefs.

Numerous homemade wicking beds adorn the front garden, along with 26 fruit trees, three vines and even a productive coffee tree.

The soil is powered by compost produced on site, in addition to worm farms, sub pods and worm towers. Beneficial plants attract pollinators, and there are bird and insect baths, bird feeders and homemade bee hotels.

Beyond this, they have capacity to store 16,000 litres of rainwater harvested from their roof to water the garden.

  • Steve and Helen will be available all weekend to explain and discuss their organic patch
  • Plant sales
  • Take a 2minute drive to 128 Robin Rd, Semaphore South to see an excellent use of a verge. The resident has created a very pretty and productive verge garden which enhances her house beautifully, and provides vegetables and herbs for neighbours.

Please note: this garden is not suitable for wheelchairs; it also has two fishponds.

Size: 75sqm

$20 for four gardens     $50 for all gardens

The charity is OzHarvest.
